The defined East Coast Surf Area commences southeast of Kavieng, at North Cape, and extends to the south side of Konos Village (145km from Kavieng). It includes all surf breaks that occur regularly or from time to time along the entire stretch of coast.

Where to stay
There are many locally-run guesthouses along the east coast. Visit the New Ireland Tourism Bureau website for a complete listing of the guesthouses and their facilities.

New Ireland Surf Trekking & Tours operate road-based surf trips along the entire stretch of the east coast, staying in the many guesthouses in the area. Local knowledge is required, not only to actually find the breaks, but to access them on the right conditions.

Nusa Island Retreat has expanded its operations onto the East Coast, giving surfers the option of either the Kavieng Area or the East Coast experience subject to Quota availability in either of the areas.
